When a pattern doesn't parse

"No rounds were recognised in that text"

The parser looks for round labels — Rnd 4:, Round 4., R4), 4., ranges like Rnds 5-8: — and a label needs its punctuation: a number that just starts a sentence isn't treated as a round, on purpose, or every "2 strands of yarn" would become round two. If your pattern writes rounds without any separator, add colons to the pasted text — or use the Manual tab on the same screen, which creates an empty part whose rounds you add one at a time with the stitch builder.

"Where did my materials list go?"

Sections titled materials, gauge, abbreviations, copyright and similar are deliberately not turned into rounds — their contents are set aside until the next real round label appears. Introductory text becomes a part note instead (you'll see it on the part as "Before you start"), and lines between rounds that aren't rounds — designer asides, "stuff firmly" — attach to the previous round as notes rather than becoming phantom rounds.

The flags in the review list, decoded

• "Pattern says X, these stitches make Y" — the arithmetic check failed: the instructions produce a different count than the pattern prints. Often this is the pattern's own typo — how to tell whose mistake it is.
• "Unsure about …" — a scanned word the recogniser had low confidence in. Compare with the printed page; it's flagged only when the round's count doesn't already confirm the reading.
• "Range — expands to N rounds" — informational: this single line will become N tickable rounds when saved.
• "Repeats to the end of the round — count unknown" — an "around" repeat with no printed count to anchor it; the round saves fine, it just can't be verified.
• "Several sizes in one count — enter the count for your size" — multi-size patterns print counts like "18 (24, 30)"; pick yours and type it in.
• "Unbalanced brackets — check this line" — a bracket opens and never closes, usually a scan artefact. The brackets are set aside and the stitches read flat, so the derived count may be off — the flag is your cue to compare the round with the page.
• "No stitches recognised — check this line" — the line looked like a round but contained no stitch the parser knows. It is still saved exactly as written, so an exotic stitch pattern remains trackable even when it can't be count-checked.

Fixing things in place

Every row in the review list is editable before saving: tap it to correct the text or the count, use ✕ to skip a line that shouldn't be there, rename parts, set "make 2" copies, or flip US/UK terms for the whole pattern with one button — the system in use is shown above the list. Rounds can also be edited any time after saving — a fix mid-project is never blocked.
