Help
Last updated 15 August 2026How the pieces of Yarn Diary work, in more detail than the app itself explains — including the limits. If a question isn't answered here or in the FAQ, a human reads support.yarndiary@gmail.com.
Guides
- Scanning a printed pattern — camera photos, what the recognition can and can't read, and the review screen where you check its work.
- Importing a PDF — digital and scanned PDFs, two-column layouts, and the page limit.
- Google Drive sync — connecting devices, what lives in your Drive, when syncing happens, and how conflicts are merged without losing work.
- Backups, import and deleting — the export file, the three import modes, and what "Delete everything" does and doesn't remove.
- When a pattern doesn't parse — what the warning flags mean and how to fix a mangled scan in place.
Beyond the app
- Amigurumi guides — keeping track of rounds, the abbreviations, checking stitch counts, and repeat notation. Useful with or without the app.
- US vs UK crochet terms — the full conversion chart, a quick converter, and how to tell which system an unlabelled pattern uses.
- The stitch guide — 57 stitches and techniques under both their US and UK names.
The one habit worth having
Yarn Diary stores everything in your browser, on your device — that is its whole privacy design, and it comes with one responsibility: the browser is the only place your projects exist until you export a backup or turn on Drive sync. Do one of the two once a project starts mattering to you.
