Little Heart
Free pattern · Easy · US terms · counts verified · Updated 2 October 2026
Two small cups joined into one round and tapered to a point — a stuffed heart in fourteen rounds. Abbreviations are US terms — see the stitch guide for any you don't know. Every round's stitch count below is machine-verified.
A heart is two of the ball's beginnings and one of its endings. Each lobe is the first five rounds of an amigurumi ball; one round then travels around both of them, turning two cups into a single body; and from there it closes the way a ball does, six decreases at a time, down to the tip.
The join is the only new move, and it is simpler than it sounds: nothing is chained or slip-stitched, you just carry on from one lobe's stitches into the other's. The small gap left between them is sewn shut with a yarn tail a round later. Stuff in three goes as the opening narrows, and shape the lobes with your hands at the end.

Lobe (make 2)
- Rnd 16 sc in magic ringWork in a spiral without joining, and keep a marker in the first stitch of each round.6
- Rnd 2inc x 612
- Rnd 3(sc, inc) x 618
- Rnd 4-5sc aroundFasten off the first lobe with a 20 cm tail; it closes the gap between the lobes later. Leave the second lobe on the hook with its yarn attached.18
Heart
- Rnd 6sc in each of the 36 stsThis round joins the lobes. With the yarn of the second lobe, work the 18 stitches of the first lobe, then the 18 of the second, starting each at its marked first stitch. No chain and no slip stitch between them.36
- Rnd 7sc aroundWith the first lobe's tail, close the small gap between the lobes with a few stitches, and hide the end inside.36
- Rnd 8(4 sc, dec) x 630
- Rnd 9sc around30
- Rnd 10(3 sc, dec) x 624
- Rnd 11sc aroundStuff both lobes and the top of the heart now, keeping the dip between the lobes.24
- Rnd 12(2 sc, dec) x 6Fill the lower half: firm, but not so full that the stitches gape.18
- Rnd 13(sc, dec) x 6Add the last of the stuffing before the opening gets too small.12
- Rnd 14dec x 66
Finishing
- •Cut the yarn with a 20 cm tail, thread it through the front loops of the last 6 stitches, pull the tip closed and hide the end inside the heart
- •Press the heart between your palms to shape the two lobes and the point
